All the preceding exercises should be played over many times in order that the student may become familiar with the effect of each of the Major and Minor Common Chords in their respective positions.
The following exercise is most important. In this case each bass note is the Root of a Chord. No signature is given, so the student must supply the necessary sharps or flats in writing each chord. It is indicated whether the chord is to be Major or Minor, and the required Position is also indicated.
Next, let the student analyze the following, indicating the bass notes by a capital letter under each, writing between the staves whether the chord is Major or Minor, and indicating the Position above the upper staff:
